WINRM Configuration

Description:

WINRM allows us to talk to your file server to create home directories and set permissions and quotas for each student or faculty user. It is expected that the file server will be a member of the domain.

Setup:
  1. On the file server, make sure you have a local admin account created that has full access to the shared folder where home directories and/or profiles are created. Make sure this account has both NTFS and Share permissions. This needs to be a LOCAL account, NOT a domain account (administrator is ok).
  2. Download (Right Click -> Save Targe As...) and run this script ON YOUR FILE SERVER as an Administrator (e.g. "Open In Folder", then right click, "Run as Administrator").
  3. If this is the first time you have run it, you should see a prompt confirming that you want to make changes, hit Y and enter.
  4. When it is done, you should see a permissions box. Make sure the local admin account from step 1 in the list with full access.
  5. Once that is done, go to the File Server Configuration page and enter the proper information.
  6. Use the Verify tool to make sure everything is setup correctly.
